After success this season in his third year as a fully-fledged supercar driver, for the first time, Cameron Hill had rival teams vying for his services.

This year has been a breakout year for Cameron with three podium finishes, including victory at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix weekend.

With success comes opportunity, and options begin to appear. Nearing the end of his third year with Matt Stone Racing, Hill was presented with one of those opportunities.

With Toyota entering the Supercars Championship for the first time in 2026, Cameron had a decision to make, the biggest of his racing career so far.

The offer from the Albury-based Brad Jones Racing to compete in the Toyota Supra Supercar in its debut season provided plenty of sleepless nights.

“I definitely had to think about a lot of things,” said Cameron.

“I’ve had success with Matt, but I was excited by the Toyota project. I wrote down the pros and cons. It was a big decision, with other teams talking to me as well. It was the first time that I had been in this position with my contract up.”

Ultimately, Cameron decided to leave Matt Stone Racing and join forces with Brad Jones.

“When I crystal-balled into the future, I weighed up what team was going to give me the greatest success. A lot of things stacked up in favour of Brad Jones”.

One of the factors was a previous association with Toyota in the early stages of his career.

Racing the Toyota 86 Series in 2016-2017 effectively helped launch his career.

“I’m excited to be returning to Toyota; the 86 Series played a big part in my career trajectory.”

He heads into this new phase of his career confident in his ability to compete with the top drivers.

“I definitely feel like I’m more experienced. I keep refining my craft. Each year is a step forward.”

Before heading to the new team in 2026, there is still business to be completed this season with Matt Stone Racing, including this weekend’s Bathurst 1000.
