An accused attempted murderer has been named after a shooting spree across Canberra, in which one man was left with life-threatening injuries and a dog was killed.
A major investigation was launched after there were four shootings between 25 and 29 March 2025.
At the time, ACT Policing said shots were fired at a house in Watson, a man received minor ricochet injuries when a gun was fired inside a home in Greenway and a pet dog was killed when a firearm was discharged multiple times in a home in Downer.
Lastly, a man was shot in the stomach at the same house in Watson, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Police originally believed a group of three men were responsible for the four incidents.
It can now be revealed that 33-year-old Kane Quinn, also known as Kane McDowall, has been issued nine charges over his alleged involvement in the four shootings.
Quinn’s charges include single counts of attempted murder, animal cruelty and discharging a firearm at a building, as well as three counts of discharging loaded arms at another person.
His lawyer, Duncan Errey of Legal Aid, said his client was remanded in custody for unrelated reasons and was not required to appear in person when the new allegations against him were first heard in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday (15 January).
Mr Errey entered pleas of not guilty to each charge on behalf of his client and asked for a six-week adjournment. The matter was adjourned to 26 February.
