Boffo bingle at North Ainslie Primary

Thanks to Gungahlin Al for the tip.

In the small hours of the morning (one resident reckons 3.30am) someone managed to get the Majura-Davenport roundabout very badly wrong.

It looks like the car clipped a tree on the wrong side and rolled before coming to rest in the school’s fence.

UPDATED: Apparently a 25yr old from Goulburn was pulled from the passenger seat and blew over for DUI. There’s a media release from the police somewhere, but not online.

haha…as another poster has already said….this is not entirely true however it reminds me of the following explanations given by a speedway driver some years ago

“Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.”

this is the second time in recent history a car has driven into that primary school fence. Maybe they should reinforce it?

Jesus what a crash. I think the worst thing is that in all these comments about this poor bastard not one person has asked if any one was hurt or thank God no one was. From the looks of it the guy driving was lucky to be alive, thank god it was late an no one else was around. Instead of riding this guy maybe we should hope he learned his lesson.
By the way sounds like Al the tip off for this was a real help to everyone bloody gossip

This must be digitally modified, no Camry can go fast enough to do that sort of damage!!!

For the mug punter middle Australian Camry driver nothing could be further from the truth.

Natural reaction to big understeer is to back off the gas, steering input is already likely to be at full lock in the intended direction of travel. Most “family” FWD will be tuned so neutrally that this will simply slow the car down (hopefully before impact) and allow the driver to regain control.

Similarly, most mug punters will back off the gas in RWD, but, crucially, steering input is in the opposite direction of intended travel. Therefore you need to correct steering angles and this is when an mug punter will usually fk things up big time.

That said, you and peterh are both right. Get things badly wrong in any car, and the laws of physics tend to take over. But, importantly, if you know what you’re doing, then, yes, oversteer can be stacks of fun (no pun intended!).

An HSV is an oversteering, rear wheel drive, point A to point B taxi…and nothing more. But you’re right, the mere sight of a corner would be enough to send it ploughing off the road in a blithering mess, haha!
