ACT Policing has arrested and charged a 20-year-old Charnwood man after executing a search warrant yesterday (December 15).
About 9.00pm ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigation Child Abuse Team executed the search warrant at the man’s Charnwood address where a number of items were seized.
Police will allege that the man had been grooming a number of young females on an online social networking site where he entered into conversation with them of a sexual nature, including explicit requests for sex.
It is believed the man initially made contact with the girls through his role as an umpire with a sporting association.
The 20-year-old man will appear in the ACT Magistrates court today charged with three counts of using a carriage service to a groom a young person and one count of possessing child pornography.
