With Easter just around the corner, people are starting to think about all things chocolate!
And thanks to some very creative Canberra chocolatiers, there are plenty of local sweet treats available. While several of these makers have their own physical shops or online stores, Region found a heaving table of local choccies at POP Canberra in Braddon.
The staff said that there is a growing number of local makers who will do special chocolate products for all occasions (not just Easter). And due to the focus on quality ingredients, these local options are a whole lot tastier than the mass-produced eggs you get at the supermarket.
Here are a few of our favourites.
Kate’s Bombs
Kate’s love of homemade chocolates started during the COVID lockdowns and has now become a business! She began with a range of hot chocolate bombs – just add hot milk – and has now expanded to include a range of other chocolate items (including a few, ahem, adult shapes).
For Easter, she has the usual range of chocolate eggs, Easter-themed hot chocolate bombs and some bunny butts which I’m sure children will find hilarious!

Lemon lovers will enjoy the Chicken Smash Egg, which is filled with lemon meringue bonbons and lemon poppyseed malt balls. And the cutest little chicken bonbons are a sweet alternative to bunnies.
“I started the brand to not only bring people a higher calibre quality of chocolate but also chocolate that is better for the planet than what you find at the supermarket,” said Tannah.

Kokoartisan Chocolates
Trained French artisan chocolatier Bertrand Jourdain started Kokoartisan Chocolates with his partner Kim Luan in 2018. The pair make their handcrafted chocolates in Canberra using high-quality European couverture chocolate (which has a higher cocoa butter percentage than cheaper compound chocolate) and local Australian ingredients.
Their Easter treats include gorgeous half-shells of chocolate filled with chocolate-coated nuts (the honey macadamia is particularly good) and Easter egg bars with different flavours.
Find Kokoartisan at select retailers or shop online.
