The facts are as stated in the police media release — the cyclist was on the GDE and there was a fatality. It would have been easily to assume (true or not) that it involved a car. On the other hand, the cause of death is under investigation but when the death is made public by way of police in a media statement and that it’s on a road, how was I to assume it wasn’t involving a motor vehicle, and to accuse ME of striking a low blow!!!!

Common sense is not that common is it?

Think back (I know it might be difficult for you) to other collisions involving cars & bikes in the media releases almost always state that there has been a collision between a bike & a car, in this case they didn’t. For assumptions sake, you shuld have assumed that there was more to it & waited for more information before commenting.

You really need to work on your filter or someone needs to take your internets off you.

You weren’t speaking about safety – bike lanes are for safety. You were just having a go. And if it was a car v bike fatality, why would that necessarily reflect badly on the cyclist rather than the driver, particularly when you haven’t bothered to get any facts? Prat.

It’s normal for many people to do many things at -4. Run, swim, walk the dog, ride a horse, ride a bike. Whatever takes their fancy. He obviously loved riding his bike.

Sure, good gear keeps the wind chill away. Also, exercising hard means theres plenty of extra heat to dissipate. There’s plenty of Canucks riding their bikes when it’s 10 or 20 degrees colder ..

Unfortunately, the cycling community has confirmed who this rider was. It was a tragic medical event.

He was riding quite early, which usually could mean he was on a training ride or knew what he was doing. Very sad, and a depiction of the worst case scenario.
