ABC has this story on Defence draining the pool of skilled workers in the ACT. Reservists are taking up full time service to head overseas on deployment. In particular its affecting doctors and nurses who are being sent to tsunami affected areas so that their not at home working in Canberras hospitals. Personnally I see their deployment to tsunami affected areas as a good thing, but having spoken to some aid workers just returned from Aceh it sounds like the ADF efforts are being directed by politics rather than necessity, ie clearing towns where no ones lives anymore rather than clearing the towns where the refugee camps have been set up.
