Well your original comment said racing, and that suggests high speed, which seems more dangerous than general “driving like a tosser”.

That’s the only reason I put it out there that he perhaps wasn’t racing.

The driver screwed up. It happens. And no-one was hurt, so I guess the driver will learn a lesson and move on.

Semantics. If you are racing on the streets, then your driving fits into the broader category of ‘driving like a tosser’. Whether he was racing or not is a matter of conjecture, but it is still one of two possibilities that immediately came to my mind.

As for why – well who knows? Ever since there have been cars, people (usually boys) have raced them. According to popular belief, the workers at the Ford factory held one of the first drag races after the first two Model-T’s came off the production line. I recall some idiot moments in my youth racing an (underpowered) Ford Escort against a mates (also underpowered) Datsun 1600 on the Tuggeranong Parkway. And of course nobody has ever seen a 6-cyl POS Commodore (or Falcon) racing off from people at traffic lights. The point is that street racing (or driving like a tosser in general) is not limited to people in powerful cars.

And just so it is on record, I am very much a petrol head.

me thinks he is trying to say someone ran him off the road or some such excuse to validate his stupidity.

What embankment? The road is pretty well level with the bike path all the way up the hill, the lowest part being on the corner to the road going to the horse paddocks & that would be 100m north of Sulwood Dve at best. There is a bank that is higher than the road just passed the crest.

I wonder if he managed to spear himself so far of the road that he hit the channel running off the other side of the bike path?

I’m guessing the roundabout at Sulwood Dr might have made a cameo appearance in this play…

Interesting, there was another accident yesterday just past the Anketell/Cowlishaw intersection in Tuggeranong. Would have been around 1pm.

Odd thing was there only appeared to be a single vehicle smashed, whole front quarter imploded, wheel ripped off and the car stranded in the middle of the road. And the vehicle was surrounded by Police cars including one of the SRS 4x4s. No fire brigade, no ambulance though.
