Good to see that the venue fits. Sounds suitable for people who spell “merry-go-round” as “merrigoround”, too.
You might want to get your grammar correct before you sling barbs at the less fortunate. Why the need for the comma then ‘too’?
Idiot
Yep, what Granny said.
The Malkara (actually located in Hughes) day has been going for at least 20 years, so apparently some people enjoy it. Amazing, eh?
“Greyhound have 12 service to Sydney on Friday.
That’s the only way Canberrans wil find anything to do this weekend.”
That would be 12 ‘services’ I take it? And ‘will’ find? Careful who you dump on Lionellongnamewhonevermakesspellingmistakes.
Go Granny, give ’em heaps!

Yeah, go ahead and trash people with disabilities. As if their lives aren’t already hard enough. All their lives they get to sit around and watch people like you get to have fun. Half the time in and out of hospital suffering. And often those lives are very short. Go ahead and laugh. You’re so bloody clever.

Cellist Stephen Isserlis with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, 8pm Saturday, at Llewellyn Hall. Woot!
I’ll be calling in to ANU Film Group tomorrow night for the double BRICK LANE and ROAD TO MOROCCO, and then hoofing it to Arc on Saturday arvo for a dose of Lamorisse – THE RED BALLOON and THW WHITE MANE.
Just heard from someone who got back from Manuka this arvo – tickets for the Swans game have sold out, except for ‘restricted view’ places. 🙁
Must have been very recent as a mate played with his band at the Rose Cottage in the last couple of months and that was allegedly its big closing! So good to see that another one hasn’t bitten the dust.
Anyhoo, back OT. If anyone’s into bush music and/or dancing, this Friday night being the first of the month is Settlers Music and Dance night at the Polish Australian White Eagle Club in Turner. Music session from 6pm (bring your instrument); dancing for all (bring your feet… or foot) from 8pm. $7/$5/nix for the kiddies.
Details at: http://www.thefolkus.org.au/BushTrad4.htm
The Feldons at Rose Cottage inn at 3.00 on Sunday.
Wow. I thought they (Rose Cottage) had closed up shop as a music venue. Delighted to hear otherwise.
Jaysus, did I say Brumbies??!!
Wallabies. Totally different animal. Must be that happy birthday horse thing…
At the Folkus Room, Serbian Club in Mawson on Friday 1 August: Queensland guitarist Michael Fix (9pm) plus new-ish local Canberra band Freyja’s Rain (8pm). $15/$12. Details at http://www.thefolkus.org.au
While you’re there (on the Folkus site) read the ‘Folkus Flatus’ for details of a gig this Saturday afternoon/evening at the Poachers’ Pantry featuring five guitarists, including the legendary Trev Dunham and Ian ‘Dr Zot’ Stehlik. All for just $15. Your ears will thank you.
And slightly outside our environs, if anyone’s coastward-bound, my daughter and I are setting this month’s ‘Master Batemans HHH’ run from the Mariners’ Hotel in Batemans Bay from 3pm Saturday afternoon. First run free. Amber drink stop along the way, then drinks and bistro dinner, and the Brumbies on the TV at the Mariners. All welcome.
Something for the goths, Chrome is on Saturday night at the Civic Grail.

I’m going to be out of town this weekend and as such haven’t even bothered finding out what’s on in canberra this weekend (so I’m no help what so ever) but can I put i a request for future weeks?
I like the weekly shots of the poster wall, it’s like a historical record of Canberra gigs, but many of the posters are so small you can’t make out the details. Any chance of close-ups in a slide show or something???
I’ve got the following:
— RiotACT Sim Challenge All Bar Nun tonight, Norvan Vogt to show off his city management skills.
— Quantum Leap’s My Sister My Brother modern youth dance all weekend at the Canberra Theatre.
— National Day of Action for gay marriage and smashing the capitalist oppression protest in Garema Place on Saturday.
