DIY Wotz on Guide for the weekend of 25 May 2007

The Tullys are playing at Gloria Jeans Belco Mall tomorrow (Sunday) from 12-2.

Murrumbateman Acoustic Music club is on at the pub at Murrumbateman tomorrow night from 7. Meals are fantabulous and there is an open white board for performers. Originally a folk music club, now an eclectic mix of folk, country and contemporary music and it’s FREE! All welcome.

PS. the Kremlin Bar is in Civic – 65 Northbourne Ave – next to the Qantas Travel office… hehe

I received a mail this afternoon from Marianne Mettes

“Just thought I’d let you know that Jonathan and I are playing at the soul
bar in woden tomorrow night (ED – Friday 25 May) at 8:30pm. They’ll be other great acts on as
well!
Also – very important! We’re playing at the Phoenix at the Bootlegs on
Monday the 4th of June! This will be an excellent night as it will also
double as my birthday celebrations! 🙂 we’re on at 8:30pm too! 🙂

I’m also organising another round of the songwriters showcase night at the
Kremlin bar on the 26th of July. Last time I showcased 11 acts with a new
act on every 10mins! it was very special and exciting and was booked out a
week in advance! I was wondering if Riot act would be able to give it a bit
of a spiel? I’m currently seeking out new songwriters to get involved.

Lotsa theatre stuff, including:

– “Two Up” – impro theatre at the Street, 7:30 Sunday – I’m in it, so, goddamnit, come and see it!

– Buddy, the Buddy Holly story at the ANU arts centre, features great songs, some terriffic performances, and a script that appears to have been generated by the chiche-o-meter 3000. But it’s worth it for the performances and the songs, dammit. Tonight, Friday and Saturday are your last chances to see it, so get in fast.

– Hedda Gabler features Ibsenite angst together with a kickarse performance from Andrea Close in the lead – while one or two of the supporting performances let the side down a little, it’s still worth it – tonight, Friday and Saturday at the Canberra Theatre Courtyard Studio
