Well, I’m sure there’s more options than the solitary one suggested by the pillar…
What’s worth heading out to see and do this weekend?

We have a reverbnation account, but it’s not really what I’d call a website, and there isn’t much info there yet:
http://www.reverbnation.com/laughingsamsdice
Links in nicely with Facebook’s “My Band” app.
I’ll check out bandzoogle though, cheers.
Lilli: see linkage above for a taste of LSD (ahahaha), or head to The Glacier’s myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/theglaciersband
fnaah, Laughing Sam’s Dice are cool
Well, thank you. 🙂 (I’m the lead guitarist.)
Too flakey for a website?
… sort of. I’m too busy with other websites and my actual day job to put up a dedicated site, but we’ve got some clips on Youtube from our set in the Battle of the Bands grand final last year:
But besides all that, The Glaciers are well worth seeing, they *won* the battle of the bands comp with their catchy, rockin originals. So come see us both, tonight at The Basement!
Botanic gardens on Sunday afternoon.
marji curran is playing I believe.
Good call Thumper! I forgot about the Gardens.
Thanks!

Er, okay…. I’ll let Corey know.
Dragon boating’s on tomorrow morning if anybody’s interested in coming down for a quick spin across the lake. Following that it’s Yarralamumla bakery for a snack.
Anybody know if any outdoor events (music, etc.) are being held anywhere?

Ahh the old originals vs covers chestnut! I can’t understand negative attitudes towards any form of live music, be it covers or originals. At least we still have venues that put live music on, be it originals or covers. I think they definitely both have their worth and it would be a sad day if the boring coverbands were taken away by the venues that put them on.
You may as well just have a jukebox.
It would certainly beat some half assed cover versions of the same songs that appear in every cover band’s repetoire.

fnaah: As someone who just recently moved to Belconnen and was looking for something to do this Friday, I might just be enticed by this gig! Any more details on the bands playing?
Julia and The Deep Sea Sirens are playing tomorrow (Friday) at lunchtime in Garema Place.
Computer Fairs resume in Canberra next weekend (Jan 17th at Woden CIT).
er… Folk? I think that would best describe Johnny’s unique acoustic guitar, vocal and stomp-box stylings.
If you’re after something more rockin, come see Laughing Sam’s Dice and The Glaciers. You know you want to. 🙂
Johnny Huckle is amazing, I’ll give you that. 😉
What kinda music does Johnny perform?
Friday: Woodford Folk Festival 2008-09 artists featured on ‘Disc Drive’ on Arstound FM (92.7FM/90.3FM in T’nong), 5-7pm.
Monday: ‘Trivia in the Trams at the Tradies’ club in Dickson. Register from 7pm, kicks off at 7.30pm, free to enter. Granny will welcome any additions to her movable feast of a team. Carryover special round topic from 2008: 1980s films.
I’ll put the Hash House Harriers details on a separate thread as there’s a bit of detail and it stretches the concept of the ‘weekend’ out at least to Wednesday.
First gig of the year at The Front in Lyneham with the amazing Johnny Huckle.
Block Party!!! … then the afterparty at Transit, then Sound baked sundays!
Frankie Wants out @ Transit Bar Friday 9th
Melbourne swing band.

The Glaciers @ The Basement, from 9 on Friday 9th.
Supported by Laughing Sam’s Dice.
