Looks set to be a cold weekend and most people in Canberra will probably be indoor somewhere doing something to take their mind off the frosty cars awaiting them outside.
What’s your pick of warming activities on offer this weekend?

Thanks for your reply.
A few more questions – Do the jazz bands play every Friday night at Wests? If so, is it the same band? You mention parents, so is it like a highschool big band? Is a setlist available? Do they take requests?
Hopefully it’s a regular gig you’re talking about so that I can round up a contingent of dancers starved for real live swinging music.
The jazz bands definitely swing though I’ve never seen anyone dancing there since the audience is usually parents plus the adjudicator. I’m sure you could dance up in a back corner if you wanted to though.
The concert bands don’t often swing, particularly the higher grades. Both the bands and orchestras sections are held at Llewellyn Hall at the school of Music.
“Jazz groups Friday night at the Wests Belconnen Leagues Club (from memory that’s in Kippax), concert bands all afternoon Saturday (I’m playing late that night) and orchestras on Sunday (both those sections at the School of Music).”
Are these bands swingable? Do people dance? Which venues are the latter two events held at? Is there dancing room?
Thanks. 🙂
On local stages this weekend:
– The Fantastiks finishes off its run at the Belconnen Theatre
– Political Animals continues its run at the STreet Theatre Studio
– The Sound of Music continues its run at the Queenbeyan Bicentennial Convention Centre- Tarantara! Tarantara! continues its run at the Southern Cross club
– A Midsummer’s Night Improv has one night only on Sunday at the Street Theatre – 7:30
The National Eisteddfod is on this weekend (well actually it’s the Canberra eisteddfod, they just call it ‘national’). Jazz groups Friday night at the Wests Belconnen Leagues Club (from memory that’s in Kippax), concert bands all afternoon Saturday (I’m playing late that night) and orchestras on Sunday (both those sections at the School of Music). Also Justbands is reporting they’re having a high school rock group section for the first time ever tonight at CIT Woden from 4.30.
And the Eisteddfod Society webpage says the RMC Band’s going to perform at 4.30 on Sunday afternoon.
