Hi Danman. Like the pic. I think to add more interest to the sky (which you evidently want, but don’t want to doctor it)you could take the pic either at early dawn or late dusk so that there is a little colour in the sky

I heard Jammo pool was closing… CISAC is apparently killing them.

Still no other place to go on waterslides in Canberra though 🙁

I haven’t got an aerial on my car, it is incorporated as part of the rear window so not sure what I’d do if the drive in was still open. I wonder if they will ever reopen some Drive Ins on a permanent basis?

Off topic a bit but has anyone been to the Dive In Movies at Jamison pool? I wouldn’t think Canberra is warm enough except on a handful of occasions a year to be swimming around a pool at night.

We used to go there in our PJs. At some point in the night, we’d fall asleep in the back of teh car. The sound quality of those speakers was apalling. I remember the excitment when they brought in those wires you looped over the aerial of the car radio.

And FWIW I had *exactly* the same feelings the last time I drove past that sign – it was yesterday afternoon, in fact.

I wanted to keep it real – I have a version on my PC of a new moon sky (lots of stars ) out at Lake George – I made a layer of stars in the background – looks sweet – but then it was digital art – not a photo…

My text from flickr – When ever I drive past this I get nostalgic – so I figured I would take a photo to place in my neural vault – because that will be there till the day I die – the sign may not.

I had a dilemma – I wanted to expose the stars in the sky – thus emphasizing the signs name – however there was way too much ambient light – so unless we have another WW2 blackout phase here in Canberra – buckleys chance of getting the right exposure….

Just imagine those slide in letters on the bottom 2 panels – Now Showing – American Graffiti – with the lights on the outside slowly chasing around the frame – shut your eyes and deeply inhale the cool sweet night air – and listen to the distant sound of laughter and buddy holly tunes coming from the old 8 track.

Man I wish I was there for those days.

None the less – we can dream – If you squint you can almost imagine 2 stars there 🙂
