ACT Policing has arrested three male teenagers for two aggravated burglaries in Farrer yesterday (Monday, January 7).
Around 12.20pm, a member of the public contacted ACT Policing Operations to report three teenagers knocking on doors and looking through windows on his street in Farrer.
A Woden General Duties patrol attended Drevermann Street and located three teenagers who matched the description provided by the member of the public.
Police spoke with one of the teenager’s parents, and received consent to search his bedroom. As a result of the search, police located a duffle bag which contained several items suspected to be stolen, including alcohol, mobile phones and money.
Officer-in-Charge of Woden Police Station Sergeant Steve Hogarth said this arrest demonstrated the vital role members of the community play in assisting police to prevent crime and apprehend offenders.
“Following a report from an astute member of the public, police were able to identify the three teenagers and charge them accordingly.”
“During this summer holiday period if you see any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444,” Sergeant Hogarth said.
The three teenagers were arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House, where they were charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft. They received Watch House bail, and will face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date.
