Fire in Phillip

3:15pm Sunday 7 November 2010 – Small kitchen fire at Phillip. ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a small kitchen fire in a unit of a two level complex at Mansfield Gardens, Phillip.

A smoke alarm was activated in the unit which alerted neighbours to the fire.

The unit received extensive heat and smoke damage, estimated at $70,000. One unit underneath received minor damage.

Three ACT Fire Brigade pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus support unit and the Bronto Hydraulic platform attended.

The single male occupant was assisted out of the unit by passers-by.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics assessed one male and transported the patient to The Canberra Hospital for ongoing assessment.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 1.06pm.
