Huh. Having recently eaten at The Press Club, I wouldn’t be paying for this. Only poor meal I’ve ever had in Melbourne. Very, VERY unimpressive.
Mrs C and I had a meal at the Little Press over the xmas break and it was superb. Great service too seeing as we just rocked up on the off chance we could get a seat next door.
I did watch Masterchef, and I found Colombaris’s desserts fussy, trendy and pretentious – too many elements, and what’s with the “sprinkle of sweet crumbs” thing? $90 seems reasonable though – that’s hardly an expensive restaurant meal. Clearly Masterchef is pitched at my middle-income demographic $$$-wise.
I’ve been to a dinner Calombaris put on and it was pretty amazing. That was pre-masterchef mind you.
Its unfortunate you had a bad experience, I think good on the Hellenic Club for showcasing something different….. A masterclass plus a three course meal from a celebrity chef… I think is amazing!
