[Fires] getting closer

This bit makes me nervous – “The fire is burning very close to the area that was burnt by bushfires in January 2006, it is an area that has scattered houses in amongst the bush,” DSE duty officer Andrew Graystone said.

If it comes much closer, I’m getting out my hose, water restrictions be damned.

Fair enough! If it was that bad, though, I think you’d have been justified in just editing away and leaving a note at the end — this way there are as many words in the brackets as there are out of them…

Should have seen what I was working with.

One would assume the original headline was something like “They’re Getting Closer” and the link title was simply “link”

I was less talking about the Ed note, which is common practice, than the ‘[Fires]’ in the headline, and the brackets around the link. Never mind.
