Geocon will expand its hotel group into Greenway after acquiring four-star Alpha Hotel and Apartments.
The 46 Rowland Rees Crescent property, located next door to the Tuggeranong Vikings Club, will be rebranded as Abode Tuggeranong and take bookings from mid-October.
Geocon CEO Damon Smith said the location, size and facilities made it a perfect fit for the business’s growing portfolio.
“We’re excited to bring the Abode experience back to Tuggeranong, enhancing what is already a strong destination for visitors,” he said.
“Our goal is to provide exceptional stays that showcase the very best of the region. We look forward to welcoming guests and building lasting connections here in Greenway.”
The four-star hotel has 100 rooms, including studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, restaurant, conference rooms and on-site parking.
The hotel was built in 1997 and known as the Country Comfort Motel.
It had been leased to Alpha Hotel for two-and-a-half years as part of a 15-year lease, but it was also offered with vacant possession.
The lease was due to run out on 30 July, 2027.
“Designed to accommodate both corporate events and private functions, the hotel offers flexible conference and event spaces, ensuring a steady flow of business and diverse revenue streams,” its listing on Burgess Rawson Canberra stated.
“Located just a 15-20 minute drive from major events via the Parkway, the property offers an affordable and convenient option for visitors to the region, making it a promising investment with long-term potential.”
