Hargreaves to Stand Down????

Caught a bit of something on FM Radio this morning about the possiblity of ‘everyone’s favourite’ John Hargreaves is quitting local politics. Now I didn’t hear the whole thing, so wondering if anyone else did or can add any weight to the rumour. Mind you, if it does happen, its a chance for the ALP to install a Minister to take the portfolio areas forward. With Katie Gallagher due to go on Maternity Leave again, well may we see a new broom into the Stanhope Ministery…..or will Jon just take on all the portfolios himself?

He’s probably going to stand down so that he can start up an alternative political party for the next Federal election – The sun-ripened warm alcohol fuelled tomato-coloured nose party or similar.

be still my beating heart. The system could replace Hargreaves (or at least a dozen others of the mighty seventeen in the Assembly) with a broken Barbie or Ken doll (or a GI Joe in the case of the Prattmeiste) rand improve the average quality significantly.

We need a figurehead to open fetes, a clerk for signing contracts with the states for schools, hospitals etc and someone with brains to participate in inter-jurisdictional gabfests. Far too complex for any of the current bunch and they’d lose the runner-up prize in the real contests for a Fed seat if the Aassembly was abolished. May the story be true and may most of the others follow him out the door.
