A friend needs to know for reasons we don’t need to go into here.
But as the matter is not easily googled we can perhaps provide a long term public service.
Anyone know?

I have been wondering the same question and whether it is illegal to consume alcohol outside Parliament house. Senator Pauline Hanson celebrated Donald Trump’s win in the US election by consuming champagne outside Parliament House, did she break the Law?

Given there are two bottle shops in the Civic bus interchange the possession can’t be too heavily policed.
Only applies to consumption of or possession of open containers of alcohol under the Act.
So long as you don’t crack it open, it’s fine… something the hobos in the area don’t take much notice off strolling along with an open Bundy. Not even hobos. They are the filthiest of scum from abc. The amount of times I have seen them being the worst kind of tea bag in front of young kids walking past makes me want to vomit.
Rolling around drunk at 1000. Where are the police? I really think all of that area of civic should have police on the ground. That often surprises me about alcos. If you’re as pissed as ten men in the morning, what are you doing for the rest of the day? That’s why I never drink before noon…
If you start at miday, unless you are smashing spirits constantly, come dinner time, it’s gonna be hard to be as bling as those pos are at 1000
Will you please find a sense of humour from some source or another…?
Source! Sorry bro but I only get a sense of humour if I have been on the sauce since 1000!!!!

It’s not hard to get hammered by 1000 if you never really sobered up from the night before.

I thought all bus interchanges and within 100m of a bottle shop were permanent booze free zones…?
I think it’s a case of semantics. They’re “certain public places” where you can’t consume or possess an open container of liquor.

The permanent alcohol-free places are defined in section 31 of the Liquor Regulation 2010.
There must also be some “non-permanent” ones defined though, because the signed alcohol-free zone in Braddon is not in that list.
Permanent alcohol-free places. Temporary Alcohol-Free Places are notified here with a title in the form “Liquor (Temporary Alcohol-Free Place) Declaration 20xx”
