Police have arrested a man after he allegedly drove to a north Canberra home and fired a gun at a vehicle in its driveway before using the weapon to smash a window.
Xander John Martin, a 22-year-old from Crace, faces a charge of discharging a firearm at a conveyance over the allegations.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said the man allegedly pulled up to a Harrison home about 4:30 pm on Tuesday (6 January), then fired a gun at a vehicle in the driveway.
“It is alleged that he has then used the firearm to strike the vehicle multiple times, breaking the back driver’s side window,” the spokesperson said.
Police arrested Martin early on Wednesday morning (7 January) before he faced the ACT Magistrates Court later that day.
His lawyer, Carley Hitchins of CODA Criminal Law, said he would not apply for bail but would enter a plea of not guilty to his charge.
Magistrate Glenn Theakston remanded him in custody and adjourned for a pre-hearing mention on 18 February.
