A home in north Canberra was fired upon several days before a man inside the building was shot in the stomach, police say.

Police believe the shootings, which resulted in the man being taken to hospital in a serious condition, were both targeted attacks, and investigators are now seeking witnesses and footage of the incidents.

Emergency services were contacted at about 10:30 pm on Saturday (29 March) and told a man had been shot in the stomach at a residence on Knox Street, Watson.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

“The offenders reportedly took off after the shooting in a dark vehicle, believed to be an Audi,” an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

Following an examination of the scene, police discovered that the property had also been shot at several times earlier in the week.

“Police believe these shootings are targeted incidents,” the police spokesperson said.

Witnesses to the shootings, or anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, are urged to contact police.
