ACT Policing has arrested a 27-year-old Melba man after locating him in possession of an illicit substance, stolen property and being equipped for theft.
Around 3pm yesterday (Tuesday, 19 April), police observed a male riding a push bike along John Cleland Crescent, Florey. The male was standing on the pedals of his push bike as he rode and peering into the backyards of the adjacent properties.
Police stopped and spoke to the man who initially stated a false name. The male was positively identified and found in breach of bail of his ACT Magistrates Court conditions.
A search of the man’s backpack located house breaking tools including a hack saw blade secreted down the leg of his pants, drugs and stolen property.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates later today, charged with equipped for theft, unlawful possession of stolen property and possess prohibited substance.
