Moving the ambulance and fire stations

How far do you think the Kambah fire and rescue station is from Weston Creek.. you know, the one on Namatjira Drive, which feeds directly to Cooleman Court? According to google maps, it is 4.4km to Cooleman Court and 6.7km from the fire station to the furthest point in Weston Creek.

Compare this to the new service being opened in South Tuggeranong, where for example the distance from Chisholm Fire Station to Banks is over 12km.

Obviously this Labor Government (and Simon Corbell) have forgotten a lot of things, like many thousands of Weston Creek residents? Of course, nothing ever happens in Weston Creek, 2003 fires must be a figment of my imagination, just as my muddled brain must have imagined that all roads out of Weston Creek were blocked by raging fires. Bushfire paths tend to be cyclical, as I found when living in Blue Mountains and West Killara. Natural disasters are part of life, but does over-politicised incompetent government have to be, too??

Hmm I remember the government getting criticised heavily only a couple of years ago about response times from the current locations, with the government replying by shooting the messenger and rubbishing the results. Is this now an attempt to take credit for the idea of moving the stations?

I think trainees are paid about 60k, senior fire fighters are paid about 75k, station officers about 85k. Then there’s the 2nd and 3rd incomes so many of them have.

Bus drivers receive 20.16/hr in training 25.82/hr in probation (6month) and 28.75/hr after training.
Fireys receive 11.15/hr in training, 11.29/hr in probation (5yr), 12.94/hr after training

Maybe the fireys should be going on strike as much as the bus drivers do?
