What’s the problem with heeding the road signs, not overtaking then and saving what, a few seconds or even as much as a few minutes in travel time??

I can’t believe some of the responses here.

Everybody bends the rules occasionally, the reality is we have road rules for a good reason, for all we know the section of road in the posted video may have been the scene of a tragedy at some point and hence cautious line markings/speed limits. Regardless of license status, P-plater here, the driver has made a cardinal error, overtaking on double lines.

Not really a big issue here. There’s plenty of similar roads around that are set at a higher speed limit and with broken lines. If rules didn’t exist, you wouldn’t even really consider it a problem at all, as it’s just what happens in other similar places. It’s only because they decided that the limit there should be lowish and the lines should be doubled that it stands out to you. It’s not really like they were going 120kph in a school zone and missing oncoming traffic by 2m…I don’t know why you bothered posting this tbh…you must live a fairly sheltered driving life if this stands out as dangerous to you.

Bullshit. That road is notorious for idiot drivers going 80+. This moron would’ve reached the next intersection about 5 seconds before the car with the camera. Hardly worth the risk.

So you’re assuming the estimate of 62 was correct? Even if it was was, 2 kph is within the bounds at which the driver would have been given a speeding ticket. You do know that at 60 kph a 2 kph difference is 1.2%, something that would barely cause a speedo needle to move in most cars – if it even mattered in the first place.

You’re either a troll or very stupid, it’s hard to tell which.

And I would say that it wasn’t that safe given the very short period of time that it took to see the white ute come around the bend. Exactly why there were double lines there – because it was a bend with less than adequate visibility.
