Parking police style

I don’t have a problem with the parking but what about the pedestrian safety hazard created by those milk crates? Also, those massage shop posters are a little explicit, aren’t they? And what’s up with the black guy just standing there not running from the cops?

Then the VW driver pays for repairs to the police bike. Just because someone is parked illegally doesn’t mean you lose liability for driving into their vehicle.

It’s not like it’s a hard bike to see, it’s nearly as big as the Polo.

However I’d be a bit miffed if I had parked that far forward in the bay so I could load something heavy into the back of the car.

Not that I can see from a quick look at the Australian Road Rules.

If that VW driver can’t get out of the park they don’t deserve a license IMO. Same goes for the other car although I can give it some slack if the car behind it is illegally parked.

As for the cop OP, read the responses. Whether they are getting a coffee or buying a donut, they have to be able to respond ASAP in an emergency. Imagine the outrage if the reason a police officer didn’t get somewhere was because they had to park too far away for any reason.

A possible issue is that parking the motorcycle like that may make it more difficult for the black car to pull away from the curb (assuming the car has no room to reverse first, which admittedly is unlikely in those particular spots).

I often park my bike like that when I am the first one in the space, allows a car to also share “my” space as well. Sook much

(1) A provision of Part 12 does not apply to the driver of a police vehicle or emergency vehicle if, in the circumstances:
(a) the driver is taking reasonable care; and
(b) it is reasonable that the provision should not apply.

Parking near to where they need to go, whether it be for food, drink, toilet or for a job is paramount. Do you really expect the police to park 5 or 10 mins walk away, then when they get called to an emergency spend 10 minutes getting back to their vehicle? That could be the difference between life and death for someone that needs their help and you begrudge them for parking nearby?

Police need to eat / drink. They also need to respond to emergencies. If they have to park further away it will take them longer to respond. Personally, I’d prefer Police to be able to park whereever they see fit in order for them to get to a call-out 30 seconds quicker

Really, this is just efficient use of space. It should be legal for all motorcycles.

It all seems reasonable to me. That, and there’s nothing here saying what the officer might have been up to, so there may be an emergency nearby.

Police cost us a fortune in taxes. I don’t want to pay for them to ride around looking for park nearby wherever they need to be. If there isn’t one available let them ‘make’ one!

What’s wrong with this? It’s better than a motorbike taking up a whole car space intended for a car. In any case, the police officer might have seen something or someone that needed attention and had to park the bike as quickly as possible.

Yeah am sick of seeing Police vehicles mounted on curbs, nature strips and the such, only to see the nice Officer’s coming out of the closet Cafe or Fast Food restaurant.

Dunno, looks legal to me?
