Police investigating light plane crash at Tharwa

A man has escaped with minor injuries after his light plane crashed in Tharwa this afternoon (Sunday, 4 May).

Emergency services were called to a private grass runway off Tharwa Drive at about 3:35 pm where they found a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft on its roof.

The pilot was treated by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene.

A small fire also had to be extinguished by ACT Fire and Rescue.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has been notified about the incident.

However, due to the type of aircraft, ACT Policing is taking charge of the investigation into the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash have been asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting P2347761.
