Police officers allegedly groped, knocked unconscious during separate arrests

Police officers have allegedly been kicked, groped, screamed at and knocked unconscious during three separate arrest incidents across the weekend.

Three men will front the ACT Magistrates Court today (1 December) charged with either resisting or assaulting police.

In one incident, police received reports of a man allegedly threatening people at a Palmerston residence, as well as fighting another man, at about 3:30 pm on Saturday (29 November).

When police arrived, they placed a 29-year-old NSW man under arrest.

It’s alleged the man kicked one officer in the head and groped another officer during the arrest.

He’s since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on a frontline community service provider, two counts of damage to property, and resisting a public official.

Early Sunday (30 November) morning, a 20-year-old Forrest man was arrested for allegedly refusing to follow directions and resisting police.

Officers were called to a nightclub at 1:30 am following reports of an assault, where they arrested the man.

It’s alleged the man kicked a police vehicle and screamed at officers as he was being transported to the ACT Watch House.

It’s been claimed he remained aggressive and non-compliant as he was being moved from the vehicle to the cells, allegedly causing an officer to fall and hit his head, knocking himself unconscious.

The Forrest man has been charged with six charges of knowingly obstructing/resisting a public official, affray and remaining in or re-entering the vicinity or premises.

Finally, a 44-year-old City man has been charged with three counts of knowingly obstructing/resisting a public official and one count of affray following an incident on Sunday (30 November) afternoon.

The man approached officers at about 2:30 pm, when he allegedly started yelling abuse before punching their vehicle as they drove off.

Police then received reports that the man had allegedly assaulted a group of men.

The City man allegedly resisted officers as they placed him under arrest.
