You think they should be legal so Joe Average can take them to ‘get big’? Bad idea. Anyway, the fact is, like any illegal drug, those who want to use them know where to find them.

Would any responsible doctor prescribe steroids to someone whose sole reason for taking them was to “get big”?

Doctors can still prescribe them, and I’d be willing to bet they are on the PBS. But that would be for recognised therapeutic purposes, and I am guessing “looking tough in a singlet” isn’t on the list.

That said, in a country where nose jobs, boob enhancements, bum lifts, botox, laser skin removal, etc are perfectly legal and exceptable to change the way you look, I can’t see why there can’t be safe and effective use of steroids for cosmetic reasons.

I guess “roid rage” rates up there with drug-fuelled / alcohol-fuelled crime. Don’t they shrink the man-bits and take the voice up an octave or two?

I agree, and soldiers should be allowed to use them too. It is a shame that some our best soldiers are being sent home for using them when most people I served with used them with impunity.
