An 18-year-old Griffith man has been arrested following the assault of a police officer yesterday evening (Thursday, January 24).
Around 8.20pm, police attended the Belconnen Churches Centre after reports loud noises were heard coming from the premises.
Police searched the area, locating two men drinking beer in a stairwell. Upon seeing police, one of the males fled. Whilst police were apprehending the male, he assaulted an officer.
The man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House. He will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning, where he will be charged with assaulting a territory official – causing actual bodily harm.
