I like it. Sundials are an excellent example of how scientific knowledge has developed. And, as others have said, it’s certainly preferable to the excresences commonly described as “public art.”

Somebody should have told them most young people have a phone which tells the time. Many struggle reading an analog watch. But I guess q,beyan population think this little number is very modern, compared to waiting for the cock each morning as qbeyan residents have too.

You’d think they’d give a better present to the place that is the only reason they have flourished.

We give most of the Queanbeyan population a job with out charging them rates and road tax and in return we get a sun dial. Short straw is very short.

Am I the only one finding the large tree that features prominently in these photos indicative of what we think of being given a sundial?

The sundial tells Local Apparent Time, or solar time, which is different from Eastern Standard Time.

Marvellous. So all I have to do to use it is memorise the equation of time and add 4 minutes. Couldn’t we have something nice like this?
