I would suggest because it is mainly their friends/relatives/colleagues that they end up performing crime against.

And her visit to the jail? That was a breach of her bail also, because she was banned from contacting her co-accused in the drive-by.

That’s just two guys on bail in one week. The ACT Police are the worst in the nation at solving crimes (lowest clearance rates), so you can be sure that many of the 900 to 1,000 other crimes committed each week involve bailed or paroled crims.

A bloke on bail was committing a spate of offences and had already committed a bunch more. How ridiculous he was even out. Which soft judge was it?

And why wasn’t he on remand? Oh, that’s right, our super-expensive jail is too small for actual crims – but we need a tram for conceptual people who don’t exist yet.

And how ridiculous that it took a member of the public to tip off the cops, and not the actual cops themselves – oh yeah, the ACT Police have the lowest rate of solving crimes of any force in Australia, but the purchase agreement doesn’t include proper KPIs, just weak ones like the public’s perception of crime or how fast a patrol car turned up (15 minutes? Really? OK, I’ll ask him to wait and tone down the stabbing).

The ACT’s entire criminal justice system is an absolute joke – we have the highest rate of recidivism in Australia, and we’re about to outsource detention to the actual crims themselves and ask them to please stay at home.
