ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery at the Mirchi Indian Cuisine restaurant in Ngunnawal last night (Sunday, March 20).
Around 9.15pm, a man armed with a knife entered the restaurant and approached the front counter. He threatened a male employee, and demanded cash from the till.
The employee managed to escape to the kitchen, and the offender left the restaurant. He was last seen running towards Lanley Square.
The male offender is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cm (5’11) tall with a slim build. He was wearing dark coloured pants and a dark coloured hooded jumper at the time of the offence.
There were no customers inside the restaurant during the attempted robbery. The male employee received a minor cut to his left hand, and no money was stolen from the restaurant.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attempted robbery last night, or may have seen a man matching the above description in the Ngunnawal area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
