The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for flash flooding in the ACT and parts of NSW. The ACTSES remind the community to stay well clear of fast flowing water. Do not enter drains or other expanses of water under any circumstances.
The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) has received a total of 591 calls for help since 3pm Tuesday. ACTSES volunteer crews continue to respond with 19 outstanding jobs.
Residents who need flood assistance can call the ACTSES on 132-500.
Motorists are strongly advised to respect the rural road closures which have been put in place for their protection.
Motorists are also advised that repair work will be taking place on Kings Highway across the weekend meaning at times it will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists should drive carefully.
ROAD CLOSURES
Motorists are reminded that the following roads and crossings are closed as a result of rain:
Morisset Road in Mitchell (access to Bimberi Youth Justice Centre is via Wells Station Road)
Cotter Road is closed at Casuarina Sands.
Tidbinbilla Road is closed at the intersection of Booroomba Road through to Paddys River Road.
Corin Road at the intersection with Paddy’s River Road
Paddy’s River Road (local residents will still have access)
Naas Road closed one kilometre south of Tharwa (this includes the Naas Road bridge over the Gudgenby River which has been damaged)
Boboyan Road
Smiths Road Bridge
Apollo Road
Bendora Dam Road
Orroral Valley Road
Brindabella Road at the start of the dirt section to the NSW border
Mount Franklin Road
Uriarra Crossing

Mugga Lane is now closed between Long Gully Road and the Monaro Highway. Warning signs are in place.
One lane of Northbourne Avenue, in each direction closest to the median strip, is closed between Wakefield Avenue and Morphett Street.
Motorists are also urged to be cautious when driving along the Barton Highway. There is excess water on the road between Gold Creek Road and Gundaroo Drive (City bound).

Flemmington Road city bound bus lane between Sandford Street and Exhibition Park in Canberra is now closed.
One lane on Parkes Way (westbound) is closed between Anzac Parade and Kings Avenue.
Cotter Road is currently under traffic control at Yarralumla Woolshed.

The ACT Government urges motorists to drive with extra care throughout the Territory while the wet weather continues.
Many major arterial, suburban and rural roads are flooded or covered by a lot of water.
Drivers should exercise extreme caution when driving in the ACT and surrounding region with the rain forecast to remain through tomorrow.
Road closures and openings will be published as changes occur with TAMS staff keeping a close eye on the situation throughout the city.
