Police allege the thieves who stole a trailer deliberately crashed into the car of the stolen item’s owner during a chase through southern Canberra.
Two men driving a stolen white Toyota Hilux stole a trailer from a home in Farrer around midday on Saturday (5 July), an ACT Policing spokesperson alleged.
The owner of the trailer spotted them in the act and gave chase in a grey Hyundai i30N.
During the chase, the Toyota was allegedly driven erratically along Athllon, Sulwood and Erindale drives.
“During the incident, the occupants of the Toyota began throwing items out of the vehicle at the Hyundai and deliberately reversed the vehicle and trailer into the Hyundai,” the police spokesperson alleged.
The trailer was soon recovered in Wanniassa and the Hilux was found in Chisholm a few days later.
Police are asking for anyone who witnessed or has dash-cam footage of the Hilux in Fisher between 7 am and 12:30 pm, or towing a trailer and driving dangerously in Farrer, Fadden and Wanniassa in the afternoon, to come forward.
The Hilux had the stolen Queensland registration plates 302YJW.
