At RSPCA ACT, we have many beautiful animals searching for their perfect forever homes. This week, we’d love for you to get to know Boss and Snickers.

Dog of the Week: Boss

We didn’t think it would be this way for young Boss here. He arrived with a wounded leg as a juvenile pup. Very raw and clearly hadn’t had much people time.

Fast forward nearly a year, and he’s still here, but he’s not who he once was. Going for a stroll twice a day (he often dives straight into the dam for a swim), having socialisation sessions and becoming a favourite of the staff and volunteers means Boss has matured and is a great pet.

When we have visitors or groups touring the shelter and they ask which dog they can go and see, we say, ‘Boss’. He’s calm, composed, still not good around other dogs but as we always say in our shelter, this assessment is of Boss in here, a loud, busy and crowded animal shelter.

If Boss can transform into the friendly little guy he is in this environment, imagine what he could be for you, surrounded by a loving family, consistent routines and his very own backyard! It’s got to be Boss’s turn to find a home.

Cat of the Week: Snickers

What a journey Snickers has been on. She’s still basically just a kitten – she’s two years old and in desperate need of adoption.

You see, at RSPCA ACT, the adoption rate for cats is quite fast; if a cat’s here for over a month, we consider that slow.

Snickers has been in our care for nearly 300 days.

Most of that time, she has been with a loving foster carer, recovering from all kinds of ailments. In that time, she’s grown fit, healthy and strong, and best of all, she’s more used to people.

Snickers is still shy, but she’s come a long way, and literally, there’s nothing else we can do for her now aside from finding her a new, permanent home.

Snickers has done her time and, like all animals at our shelter, is a little more than average. She deserves a home.

Pawnotes: An update on a recent influx of puppies (20 in one day!) … they’re all doing well and in the coming weeks will need forever homes.

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
