Looking to add some love (and a little bit of fun) to your life? Meet this week’s Pets of the Week – a loving young pup, a quirky, independent cat, both ready to find their forever homes.
Cat of the Week: Martha
There’s years and years of anecdotal evidence to suggest certain cats get along best with certain types of personalities in cat owners. Some cats, like their potential owners, want all the attention. Some people want to play all day, while others want to be left alone.
Martha’s personality is one of independence. Let’s put it into human terms, if she were your roomie.
You: “My friend is coming over to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters, want to chill on the couch with us?”
Martha: “Heck yes!” **snuggles in**
You: “My auntie Susan is coming over tomorrow with her two kids, want to hang?’
Martha: “Heck no! I’m out.” **hides**
When you adopt Martha, she will quickly warm to you. But she needs to be allowed to do her thang, too.

Dog of the Week: Roxy
Poor Roxy. She’s not even two years old, sweet and gentle, but has had a rough start to life. She was an unwanted gift who was passed around a bit. Nothing too hurtful, but the poor darling wants a permanent human to love.
Her history explains her mannerisms, too. She’s ever so eager to please and throws all the love she has at you, desperately hoping you’ll reciprocate and be the one.
Roxy is going to make an absolutely fantastic pet. We spoil her at the shelter, but to truly blossom, she needs to find that one loving, stable household.
Roxy is active, so if you like going for a jog or a long walk, she’ll love you even more. Come and meet Roxy, she has so much love to give.
Pawnote: Thank you to all the Canberrans (and there are a lot) who have adopted a puppy from us in recent weeks. We’d like to tell you this is the last of the enormous puppy run, but alas, there are still lots more to come, so stay tuned to our social media channels.
