Pig of the Week: Sir Waffles
To be clear, in our opinion, Sir Waffles is the Pig of the Year, not just Pig of the Week. We don’t see pigs surrendered at RSPCA ACT often, but truthfully, we’re delighted to have him here.
You see, he is so friendly. Sir Waffles will wander over to you, and when you start giving him a scratch, he’ll plonk down on your shoes and lap up all the ear, belly and back scratches you can dish out.
To own Sir Waffles, you’ll need a rural property, ideally with other pigs and a very strong and effective fence. You will require a PIC number (Property Identification Code).
Waffles is about 9 to 10 months of age, and he’s still growing. You’ll also need a covered/shaded area for Sir Waffles to escape the weather.

Dog of the Week: Roxy
Roxy is a marvellous dog. She’s a medium-sized mixed breed with the temperament and behaviour you dream of. She’s a terrific dog and she’ll make a sensational family pet.
She was an unwanted gift, swapped between family members before she arrived at our shelter, but they have done the best thing for Roxy by surrendering her to us.
Roxy, unlike some shelter dogs, is good around other dogs. She can be selective, but owning an existing dog won’t disqualify you from owning her.
She’s not yet two years old and still learning about the world. She’s instinctively fond of people, and she’ll try hard to please you.
Her perfect home would have a big backyard and a person (perhaps older children) to play or run with her to match her energy.
Pawnotes: We’re ecstatic to announce that not only was last week’s dog of the week, Ziggy, adopted, but just as we were preparing to mark one year of Indi being here, she was adopted! Indi had appeared in this article twice before. Thank you, Canberra. We cried.
