Schools cash in on student health

The Health Promoting Schools Funding Round will provide up to $200,000 in grants to schools which provide programs focussed on students’ nutrition, physical education and well-being.

As far as I was aware, Health and Physical Education is part of the curriculum anyway. What sort of extra programs deserve this funding? And isn’t this adding more pressure onto an already overcrowded curriculum?

It’s trying to ‘fix’ the problem of there being less time to do anything in the curriculum.

Instead of throwing copious amounts of money at a ‘problem’ ACTDET should cut back the curriculum to the basics and stuff teaching kids how to take care of a pet….
