Slow day on the highway

I didn’t have a need to go out that way yesterday, I normally do but not yesterday, so I missed actually seeing the vehicle in question. I just heard about it from work colleagues that saw it. I did however go out to Hume today and on the left hand shoulder of the road (heading towards Tuggers) about halfway between the new prison and the traffic lights there is a small pile of charred rubble which I presume to be the part remains of the burnt car.

I sometimes use the Monaro Hwy to come into the office, but usually go via Fyshwick instead because it’s quicker. I NEVER use the Monaro on the way home!

I saw a burnt out car myself – maybe you missed it while looking in the other direction? The day before we also saw a yellow car which had obviously been in a bingle as it had a crumpled rear. The Monaro is having a bad streak this week by the looks.

I heard the car caught on fire. Can’t find out any info from Crapberra Times (surprise surprise) or AFP website though.

People in general are inquisitive by nature. It’s just human nature to want to know what’s happening around you. People have always, and will always, stop to have a gawk at something happening on the side of the road. Unfortunately, as every car slows down to have a look, the result is inevitable; a traffic nightmare. No matter what you do, this will never change … it’d be a society of programmed robots if it did. Sadly, people are programmed in this way, even if it as dull as someone getting a tool from the boot of his/her car.

Also, when people see a splattered dead animal on the road, and they say “oh yuk!”, just take a closer look at their eyes … more often than not, they’re staring at the thing that is making them squirm. Humans are inquisitive by nature.
