Smoke at the ACT Heritage Library

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently responding to reports of smoke at the ACT Heritage Library.

Two fire pumpers on scene, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and a Command Officer.

20 people have been evacuated as a precaution.

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently responding to reports of smoke at the ACT Heritage Library.

Two fire pumpers on scene, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and a Command Officer.

9:03am

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the smoke which is now dissipating.

Firefighters are continuing to conduct atmospheric monitoring and ventilation.

Time of Triple Zero (000) call was 8:10am.

9:29 AM

Correction- Crews notified by Automatic Fire Alarm at 8.10am.

Crews have located the source of the smoke in a coil in the ground floor roof heating ducting. Damage contained to heating coil only.

Area in the library on Furzer and Corinna streets, Phillip remains evacuated as a precaution. Woden Library, the Heritage Library and Woden Shopfront will be closed until further notice

Crews are currently conducting ventilation and air monitoring operations.

9:54 AM

ACT Fire & Rescue has completed air monitoring and ventilation operations and are about to depart the scene.
