It certainly is pretty.

Yes, I’m often struck by the beauty of the collection of shipping containers on the corner of Fairbairn and Pialligo Avenues. A very fitting adornment to one of the main arterial routes into Canberra.
Any barrels?
Have they fixed up the issue with the PA system particularly around the security area (and I presume elsewhere)? (i.e. announcements were rather muffled thus you could not understand what the person was saying)
This is one thing that I noticed about the new parts of the airport a year ago…

Things like a relatively low number of aircraft movements per hours probably doesn’t hurt the stats either…
Uncontaminated by passengers. Like Monty Python’s cheese shop.

Yep, if spending close to half a billion dollars building a new terminal cannot win you an award there’s something wrong. Good on them.
They probably take turns with this award. 8 airports to choose from, and Darwin and Hobart are pretty crap, so each airport is likely to win every few years.
The award has probably got to do with the fact they completely knocked down the old one and built a new one… On that level alone it’s of no surprise that they won airport of the year.
