Tharwa Drive shutting down for a long time

I think it’s just sad to see Canberra’s infrastructure and amenity deteriorating so much. Same weekend I went for a wander around Black Mountain and was saddened to see the state of picnic spots and lookouts. In the 90s these were in good condition, but now they’re vandalised, overgrown and not seen a lick of paint in decades.

I am aware that nothing can stay the same, progress waits for no-one, but I think more people need to speak up or be active in getting Canberra looking good again. Something needs to be done to restore the place to its former glory.

The cotter road from either end has become too dangerous for any vehicle – have not ridden the kaosm/c there since the construction started. You can thank those wonderful people at transactewaghell and their polliepromise of “minimal impact during construction”.

Yep, was out that way in January, and it was all quite rough. Is it cause by extra (heavy vehicle) traffic on those roads because of the dam enlargement works?

Hope the closure dates are an overestimation.

Feel sorry for the people of Tharwa, they have had to put up with the full brunt of this waste of space gubbmint, schools closing etc.

Now not only is one way in/out of town being cut off, AGAIN, but the actgubbmint is in charge of rebuilding the bridge – wonder how long this one will stay up for.

There’s not enough of them to matter, in the government scheme of things. Any group of people in the ACT that is small in number tends to get the same treatment.

Not great for the people of Tharwa

It’s pretty shocking that we all accept the ACT Government can and will behave like this. Since when in a so-called democracy should we be so relaxed about a government picking on a group just because they were crictical? This is something we expect in very different political systems.

So yes – poor Tharwa.

I think i might have raised my expectations too much after watching a marathon of that Megastructures TV show. but it’s sad that in the 21st century it takes three months to finish the upgrade of a simple bridge, during which time, the bridge is fully closed.

I feel sorry the people of Tharwa get treated so much disregard again.
