The planters... All Gone!

Thanks to Timgee for pointing out that Civic’s petunia planters have all disappeared.

Here you can see they’ve gone from Bunda Street

We can only hope they return soon with winter plantings.

And all gone in Garema Place.

And gone from City Walk.

You know it may have been handy if someone in that department that decides what makes the city look nice had even done some googling on winter hanging flower baskets, just a few different ways of wording it and I came up with many helpful sites telling you the types of flowers (hanging or not) good for Australian winters and frosts etc. Wasn’t hard and yes pansies were on the list, good on you Queanbeyan for using your heads.

I thought plain old Ivy would’ve sufficed too.

They’ve just replaced the petunias up the main street of Queanbeyan. Replaced with pansies I think, not sure, zipped by too fast to have a close look!

I like the idea of shooting hoops, which would somewhat alleviate my yearning for a return to public executions. People pouring out of their offices at lunchtime for a quick one-on-one would bring some life back to the city.

As opposed to death.

Canberra winters are pretty grey, so lots of green without flowers would do….. I suggest parsley and rocket. No winter flowering trailing annuals sounds like an excuse rather than a reason to me.

The petunias are still going strong in Queanbo. there’s lots of pictures of them… on my Queanbeyan Petunia story. I can’t remember where it is here though.

The burnt palm tree is sprouting new leaves/fronds too.
