The particularly odious game of budget pre-announcements is underway. Today we hear from Joy Burch that electoral battleground of Tuggeranong is going to see $2 million for making the arts centre less ghastly.

Ms Burch said the funding will see the internal building layout re-designed to provide a new gallery, a new multi-purpose space, a new dance studio and improvements for the existing dance studio and performance spaces providing more opportunities for arts activities.

“The work will improve the functionality of the centre adding a new foyer with a dedicated reception desk to welcome visitors and improved office accommodation for staff and community arts officers,” Ms Burch said.

“The Tuggeranong Arts Centre is highly valued and utilised by our community, I am committed to improving the functionality and useability of the Tuggeranong Arts Centre to meet these needs.”

The $2 million investment follows the allocation of $200,000 in the 2011-12 Budget for the design of capital improvements at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, and will see these important capital improvements delivered.
