Two men will face court this morning (Friday, April 8) on drug charges after cocaine and amphetamine were seized during consecutive raids in Canberra last night.
The raids were part of an ACT Policing drug trafficking investigation named Operation Vinaka.
About 9:00pm last night Operation Vinaka investigators stopped a vehicle in Mitchell and searched the 22-year-old male driver.
The search allegedly uncovered 15 grams of cocaine and the man was arrested. Police estimated the cocaine’s street value at $7000.
Shortly after, drug team investigators executed a search warrant on a residence in Mitchell.
The raid led to the seizure of a further 40 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of amphetamine and other pharmaceuticals, with an estimated total street value of $23,000.
A 36-year-old man residing at the property was subsequently arrested.
The 22-year-old man faces two counts of trafficking a controlled substance other than cannabis. One of the charges relates to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine from a vehicle in February.
