My mate informed me he walked past the now defunct Venue in Erindale and there were signs up about it becoming a sports bar?
As a sports fan living in Monash I was quite excited about this prospect. Does anyone know any details?

While I liked playing pool there, I think it’s great that I’d actually have a chance of watching some live AFL down there.
Vikings patrons tend to prefer league and rugby, which is understandable, and it can be pretty hard to find a place southside to watch a game.
Duke, the Maram won’t have pokies. This may prove an advantage over the leagues club.
FWIW, the Maram is not owned or operated by the same people who (mis)ran The Venue, and they plan on having much more realistic drinks prices. I wish them all the best too – as an ACTEBA player, we need the tables!
Thumper, I like your thinking, but perhaps throw them to the wolves first, then shoot the pieces.
Dang, they just keep on trying to reinvent that place but nothing ever quite works.
Do they realise there is a leagues club only 100 metres away that already has sport, plasmas, bistro, TAB, cheap beer?
But good luck to the Venue. I look forward to checking out the changes.
If they do live music, I think it’s only going to be club duos and things like that. (Caveat: this is mostly speculation.)
Well that’s a relief. I heard murmurs that they were going to attempt to make live music work in there again. Worst room in town for live sound.
True.
“The Maram” already sports a much more pleasant decor (and quite nice looking doors), retains the dozen or so pool tables, but has ditched the club/stage for a full bistro and TAB with plasma screens etc for all your sporty betty needs (which haven’t quite been installed yet).
