We are looking for a singer for our covers outfit and have tried all the usual places with no success apart from a few flakes and a few wannabes.
Anybody got any idea where we might look?
Bear in mind we have tried the usual places.

Hey are you the guys that play O’Malley’s of a Saturday night? If so, you guys rock!
Wow Fender, that’s a huge list of songs right there. All quite ‘pubby’ and ‘blokey’. I’m female and think you really need a male vocalist for your set list. Sorry I can’t help you- good luck!
Astrojax, in answer to your question the band is made up of experienced and proficient players. Current shcedule is every Wednesday. When we can recruit vox the scene will dictate the gigging frequency but but from experience that will probably be a gig per week.
Ashnkym, we don’t have a preference for male or fem. The material is pub rock flavoured and quite blokey but that is only as we don’t have vox and us being blokes, we play blokey songs. That said we are very happy to change out playlist to suit the vox.
The outfit has been together about 3 months but we have all been around the block before.
The current play list is on Google Docs here

I’ll also put my contact details on it so if interested, please get in touch.
Hi, I am an experienced singer. Are you looking for a male or female, What kind of music does your band play and how established are you?

Definately karaoke nights.. They are already singing covers and there is a bit of talent around.
Try Queanbeyan karaoke nights – pay them in cash and they can still claim the disability pension.
Sadly true and I live here. Riverside Plaza = a haven for the lame and the toothless.
Could be worse – could be Belco.
(You know, the place with the homosexual gang that tattoo their postcode)
cover instrumentals..?
what kind of covers? how proficient are the musicians? what sort of schedule do you have [jammin’ and a playin’?]

Add more distortion to the rhythm guitar, and turn up the volume on the bass, and it won’t matter one bit.
Try open mic nights/karaoke. You might luck someone with the talent you are after.
Singers are always in short demand and established singers will align themselves with bands that (a) will make them a good amount of money and/or (b) are musically interesting and offer an opportunity for creativity.
Covers bands rules out (b), so, if you want an established singer with experience (who will be working with other bands) you’ll need to pry them away to your group by offering decent cash (more than they’re already getting).
The alternative is to get someone who isn’t experienced, which means working with flakes and wannabes.
Sorry, just another wannabe here. Rockband and guitar hero experience only. 🙂
I can only suggest notices in the music shops – they seem to be a good source, but you may already have tried that.
What kind of covers?
