A woman has been charged after she allegedly caused a car crash that resulted in the loss of a driver’s unborn baby late last year.

A Mazda 3 was travelling along the Glenloch Interchange slip road towards Parkes Way about 1 pm on 16 November 2024 when it allegedly collided head-on with a Haval station wagon.

The driver of the Haval was 32 weeks pregnant at the time and was taken to hospital.

“Tragically, the collision resulted in the loss of the driver’s unborn baby,” an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

Earlier this year, investigators from the Major Collision Team summonsed the driver of the Mazda 3 to face a charge of culpable driving causing grievous bodily harm over the incident.

The driver, an 81-year-old woman from Curtin, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday (3 July), a police spokesperson said.

She was scheduled to face court again on 11 September.
