Woman killed, man hospitalised in single-vehicle crash

A woman has died after a grey SUV crashed into a tree in O’Malley.

Police and emergency services were called to Yamba Drive, near the intersection with Mawson Drive, at about 12:50 pm on Saturday (24 January).

A 41-year-old woman was declared deceased at the scene and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation is underway with ACT Policing urging anyone who saw the crash, or has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.

Anyone who can assist police should provide their contact details to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000, quoting reference 8284050.

The woman is the third person to die on Canberra’s roads this year.
